GASTONIA, NC — A family feud outside a busy laundromat in Gastonia left one man shot in the rear end three times. Monday, the suspected gunman was in jail.
Jerecos Byers turned himself in to Gastonia police Monday afternoon. He’s accused of shooting his cousin.
Investigators say the pair were arguing over something that happened weeks ago. WCCB’s Courtney Francisco spoke with people outside the Hudson Laundry on Davis Park Road. They told her they were stunned the man would go to such violent measures… when surrounded by innocent people.
“I think it’s sad when you think you have to try and take someone’s life over an argument,” said Gastonia resident Anthony Winn. “I’ve got two kids in the car. I don’t know how I would have reacted if someone pulled out a gun and started shooting while I was here.”
Once Byers turned himself into police, detectives got a warrant to search his father’s home to look for guns and any other evidence.
