WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Obama Administration says it is doing what it can to secure the releases of three Americans being held in North Korea.

The three were allowed to speak to foreign media Monday, as North Korean officials watched closely.  All three called for Washington to send a high-ranking representative to negotiate their release.

“I’m good for the time being, but I need to let people know I’m getting desperate.  I’m getting desperate for help,” said captive Jeffrey Fowle.

“My situation is very urgent, that very soon I’m going to trial, and I will directly be sent to prison,” said Matthew Miller, also being held.

“I’ve lost already 15 pounds or more and it’s been very difficult to stay in the camp right now,” said captive Kenneth Bae.

Fowle is accused of leaving a Bible in a hotel he was staying at in June.  North Korea says Miller tore up his passport in April, saying he wanted asylum.  Bae is accused of being part of a plot to overthrow the government.
