CHARLOTTE, NC — The outgoing president of the United Way of the Central Carolinas is making her final pitch.

Jane McIntyre kicked off her last fundraising campaign Tuesday with a $150,000 donation from Chiquita.  She says the United Way wants to return at least $17 million to the community this year.

“It was the final pitch.  And it’s the final pitch to the donors, to give one time and make it the best ever. So I hope it will be a home run all the way,” said McIntyre.

McIntyre is credited with restoring trust in the United Way.  Former director Gloria Pace-King was fired in 2008 after controversy over her $2 million pay package.
