Cannon’s original sentencing date is set for September 25th. Β However, Attorney James Ferguson II has requested the date be changed to the week of October 13th. Β
Ferguson says the initial date conflicts with the availability of witnesses necessary to the sentencing presentation. Β
Cannon has pleaded guilty to taking more than $50,000 in bribes from FBI undercover agents. An affidavit in the case says Cannon sought more than $1 million in kickbacks during a meeting in his office.
Cannon was arrested last March and resigned that day. He pleaded guilty June 3. Β Cannon faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced.
