After the latest surveillance video showing Baltimore Ravens running back hitting his then-girlfriend, now wife, twice and knocking her unconscious before dragging her out of an elevator hit the web–and the Twitter world exploded with disdain–Ray Rice was fired from the Ravens.
But Commissioner Roger Goodell also said this was the first time the NFL has seen this video. Β Even though it had requested all available video from the incident earlier. Β And even though it’s clearly security video from the elevator, not some long-lost cell phone video. Β And even though a hotel former employee says the NFL most definitely did see it before the 2-game suspension.
That’s a big difference in the tales being told. Β Even though Rice admitted to everything that’s on the video, seeing it put it in a different light. Β Maybe one the NFL would rather not have shine?
