GASTONIA, S.C. — A fire broke out at the seven story commercial Firestone plant on South Dalton Street around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Firefighters say flames were coming from one of the chimneys when they arrived.
It took 25 firefighters and the use of five trucks around 20 minutes to get the fire under control. Employees inside the plant were evacuated without injuries.
Investigators say the fire started when insulation surrounding the chimney caught fire and caused debris inside the chimney to ignite.
