Gastonia Police Officer In Serious But Stable Condition After Crashing Into Tree

 GASTONIA, N.C. — A Gastonia Police officer is is in serious but stable condition after crashing into a tree on W Airline Ave and N King Street just before 6 p.m. Thursday.

Officer S. Cain was responding to a break-in in progress when his car left the roadway and hit a tree on the driverside, police say.

Cain broke both arms and was cut out of his car by the Gastonia Fire Department. 

He was taken to Caromont Regional with non-life-threatening injuries before being transferred to CMC in Charlotte.
