CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Ex-mayor Patrick Cannon will wait longer to learn his punishment for federal corruption.
A judge delayed Cannon’s September 25 hearing to Tuesday, October 14. Cannon’s attorneys wanted to move the hearing because of a scheduling conflict with a psychiatrist scheduled to testify.
Cannon has pleaded guilty to taking more than $50,000 in bribes from FBI undercover agents. An affidavit in the case says Cannon sought more than $1 million in kickbacks during a meeting in his office.
Cannon was arrested last March and resigned. He pleaded guilty June 3.
Cannon faces up to 20 years in prison for federal corruption and a $250,000 fine.
