CHARLOTTE, NC — Football fans gathered at the Epicenter in Uptown Charlotte for the Panthers season opener pep rally Thursday night.  Despite the rain, there were special appearances by the Topcats cheerleaders and the Panthers Purrcussion band.

Many also used this event, on September 11, to celebrate our country.  We caught up with a Charlotte resident who’s been deployed to Iraq twice.

“The last 13 years have been hard for the country, for the veterans,” said U.S. Army veteran Blake Bourne.  “We just wanted to celebrate that.  Rain or shine, we were gonna have a good time.”

WCCB Charlotte sent our very own Flash out to the pep rally to make a lucky fan $1,000 richer.  Thomas Wright won Thursday night’s Flash Cash.  The Flash premieres here on WCCB on Tuesday, October 7.
