LEXINGTON, SC — The South Carolina father accused of killing his five children, then dumping their bodies by the roadside, did not appear in court today. Timothy Ray Jones waived his right to a first appearance. He faces five counts of murder. His attorney says Jones doesn’t need to be in jail.
“We have some serious concerns, obviously, about his mental health. Jail and prisons are not a place for people that are struggling with serious, clearly serious, issues of mental health,” said defense attorney Aimee Zmroczek.
Lexington police say he killed his children, wrapped their bodies in trash bags, and dumped them by the side of the road in Alabama. He was arrested Saturday in Mississippi.
