CHARLOTTE, NC — Police motorcycles and patrol cars delivered some very special students to schools in Union and Cabarrus Counties Friday.  It was part of Hometown Heroes: The Big Kids Helping Little Kids event.

The local non-profit works to take some of the burden off of families who have children battling serious and life-threatening illnesses.  Kids escorted to school Friday have been cancer free for at least a year!

“I was wanting to ride on a motorcycle, but I have to ride in a police car,” said young Kate Zidanic.  “But it was a pretty cool… because I’m going to be took to school in it.”

Hometown Heroes is celebrating its 13th anniversary.
