TORONTO — Toronto Mayor Rob Ford dropped a re-election bid on Friday after doctors found an abdominal tumor that they say is malignant.

Ford faces intense chemotherapy in the coming months in efforts to shrink the tumor.

A surgeon says the tumor is rare and aggressive and will require two cycles of chemotherapy over the next 40 days.
