Β CHARLOTTE, NC —Β Β Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is talking about the decision to place embattled teammate Greg Hardy on a paid leave of absence.
“You heart for a person of Greg who have done, in my opinion, every single thing that is asked of him to do,” said Newton. Β “He knows at the end of the day, he’s a grown man. Β He made the decision that he did, but at the end of the day, that’s our teammate. Β We can’t turn our back of anybody on this organization and we don’t. Β A lot of guys feel for Greg, including myself, but we still have a job to do.”
Hardy is appealing his domestic violence conviction. Β A jury is scheduled to hear his case in November. Β He could return to the team after that.
