Uptown Bakery Fire ‘Accidental’

 CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A fire that broke out at the Fourth Ward Bread Company on North Graham Street just before midnight Friday was an accident investigators say.

Firefighters say heavy smoke and fire was coming from the side of the building.

It took 70 firefighters an hour to get the fire under control without damaging surrounding businesses. 

Investigators say the third alarm fire was due to an electrical failure in a kitchen appliance. The fire caused an estimated $500,000 worth of damage. 

No one was injured in the fire.

Red Cross responded and provided relief to the first responders.
