Two Local Doctors Arrested On Prescription Drug Fraud Charges

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two local doctors have been arrested for their role in a prescription fraud investigation. Β 

Police say Dr. Benjamin Hobbs and Dr. Samuel Hobbs had patients at Clear View Eye Care, OD fill and return prescriptions for Hydrocodone. Β Once the patients returned to the practice with the filled prescriptions, the doctors allegedly took a portion or all of the pills. Β 

Detectives say both doctors prescribed a large amount of Hydrocodone for patients. Β Police executed a search warrant at the doctor’s offices Tuesday in south Charlotte and Matthews. Β Once the search was completed, both doctors were arrested and interviewed by police detectives. Β 

They have been charged with trafficking in opiates, obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and larceny. Β
