CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two local doctors have been arrested for their role in a prescription fraud investigation.
Police say Dr. Benjamin Hobbs and Dr. Samuel Hobbs had patients at Clear View Eye Care, OD fill and return prescriptions for Hydrocodone. Once the patients returned to the practice with the filled prescriptions, the doctors allegedly took a portion or all of the pills.
Detectives say both doctors prescribed a large amount of Hydrocodone for patients. Police executed a search warrant at the doctor’s offices Tuesday in south Charlotte and Matthews. Once the search was completed, both doctors were arrested and interviewed by police detectives.
They have been charged with trafficking in opiates, obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and larceny.
