
CHARLOTTE, NC– Former NFL player Jimmy Hitchcock, was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison Tuesday.
Hitchcock, 43, who played cornerback for the Panthers from 2000-2001, pleaded guilty in June 2013 to one count of mortgage fraud conspiracy, one count of bank bribery conspiracy and one count of money laundering conspiracy.
According to information given at the sentencing hearing Tuesday, Hitchcock’s bad dealings incurred losses of approximately $4.5 million, in addition Hitchcock personally received more than $500,000 in fraudulently obtained loan proceeds.
Jimmy Hitchcock has been in federal custody since his arrest in September 2012, and was one of six others indicted and charged with mortgage fraud conspiracy.
