Grand Jury Finds No Evidence To Charge Tony Stewart

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — A grand jury will not charge NASCAR driver Tony Stewart for the fatal accident that killed Kevin Ward Jr at a dirt track in New York.

He faced manslaughter in the 2nd degree and criminal neglect homicide charges.

The announcement was made at 3 p.m.  Click HERE to see the news conference.

Stewart’s stock car struck Kevin Ward Jr at a dirt track in New York.  Ward was rushed to a local hospital but died from his injuries.

Prior to the fatal accident, Ward, who was wearing a black firesuit and black helmet, got out of his stock car and walked onto the track to confront Stewart.

It appeared Ward was upset with Stewart for causing him to crash a lap before he was fatally struck by Stewart’s car.

The District Attorney says Ward had enough marijuana in his system to impair his judgement.
