CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police made an arrest in a sexual assault cold case from 1985. Β Investigators say Anthony Wyrick broke into a home in west Charlotte, tied up a 15 and 16-year-old and sexually assaulted both of them. Β
The case was reopened since CMPD received the 2011 Cold-Case Grant. Β The evidence from the case was then submitted to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Department Forensic Lab in South Carolina. Β
Based on the evidence found, Wyrick was identified as a suspect. Β He was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of 1st degree rape, three counts of sex offense, 2 counts of 1st degree kidnapping and burglary. Β
