CHARLOTTE, NC — A man is in jail Thursday night, accused of beating his elderly uncle to death with a brick in west Charlotte.
Orlando Neal is charged with the murder of 77-year-old Charles Neal. Upset family members rushed to the scene on Dawnalia Drive Thursday. Residents flagged down an officer on West Boulevard and told him a man was being assaulted. That officer says he found the suspect pouring gas on the victim and stopped him. Residents are outraged by the crime.
“I just think it’s crazy, and I’m just glad the kids was at school when this happened. I can’t believe that family members do that to each other,” said east Charlotte resident Liz Mahon.
Orlando Neal has been arrested twice in Mecklenburg County since 1996. Both charges were for damage to property.
