UNION COUNTY, N.C. — A grand jury has indicted Joshua Houser on murder charges in the death of Kilah Davenport.  The True Bill of Indictment was returned from a Union County grand jury on Monday.

The grand jury found probable cause to charge Houser with second degree murder.  He was convicted in February of felony child abuse and sentenced to 7 to 10 years in prison.  Houser will be scheduled to return to court in the near future.   The new charge means Houser could have time added to his current sentence.

Houser was Kilah’s step father.  In 2012, he rammed the three-year-old’s head into a wall so severely, he caused permanent brain damage.  Kilah died this March of pneumonia due to complications from her head injuries.  She was 4 years old.
