MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Police charged a former Mooresville Middle School teacher and coach with taking indecent liberties with a child. Β
Investigators say 28-year-old Clarence Earl ‘Chip’ Pickard III turned himself into police Tuesday night. Β
Police began investigating Pickard after receiving a report of inappropriate text messaging between him and a student. Β
Police Chief Carl Robbins says, “Throughout this investigation, we have found no evidence of physical contact between Pickard and any student. Β The charges are all related to inappropriate text messaging between January 1 and September 8 of this year.” Β
Pickard was released on a $50,000 bond. Β
