MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Police charged a former Mooresville Middle School teacher and coach with taking indecent liberties with a child.
Investigators say 28-year-old Clarence Earl ‘Chip’ Pickard III turned himself into police Tuesday night.
Police began investigating Pickard after receiving a report of inappropriate text messaging between him and a student.
Police Chief Carl Robbins says, “Throughout this investigation, we have found no evidence of physical contact between Pickard and any student. The charges are all related to inappropriate text messaging between January 1 and September 8 of this year.”
Pickard was released on a $50,000 bond.
