CHARLOTTE, NC — Β Three high school girls, out for an after-school run, confronted by a man exposing himself.

The incident happened at Myers Park High School. Β Now CMPD is searching for the suspect, and asking parents to help keep kids safe.

We’re not shocked and surprised by much these days. But a man exposing himself to three high school girls running the trails at Myers Park High…

“That’s disgusting,” says Robyn Harding.

CMPD responded to the indecent exposure call Tuesday evening.

The girls were running just after five o’clock. They say the man was in the woods. The girls reported the incident to school personnel, who then called police.Β

“Myers Park is a good area, so that’s really rare to happen here,” says Queens University student Robyn Harding. “Yeah, yeah, it’s a complete surprise.”

“That’s the sad part, that we’ve got to watch out for our kids that much,” says South Charlotte resident Beckton James. “But there are a lot of folks out here running, using the space. I’m surprised that did happen. There’s a lot of traffic through here.”

Lots of people like to run or bike along the main streets in the Myers Park area, but a quick turn of the corner, and you’re in a more secluded area. It’s a place you have to take care.

CMPD says they are increasing patrols in and around Myers Park High School, and encouraging people to be alert.

Robyn Harding and Lionel Nau train in the area on a regular basis with the Queens University track team.Β  They say taking simple steps to stay safe could make all the difference.Β

“Yeah, I always run with someone else, or have, like, pepper spray on me or something,” says Harding.

“Be aware of your surroundings,” says Queens University assistant track and field coach Lionel Nau. “Pay attention to details. And if you are actually jogging on a trail, you want to try and do it with other people. You don’t want to be by yourself.”

CMPD is asking anyone with information on this case, or the suspect, to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
