UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Β The FBI says someone stole two guns and body armor from an agent’s vehicle in Union County. Now, the Charlotte Division of the FBI is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of the property.

Investigators say the agent’s vehicle was parked in the Hunter Oaks neighborhood off Rea Road in Union County on September 29th. Β The agent had the weapons in his vehicle because he is part of a special response team and must be ready to respond 24/7.

“There are clear policies in place of how these weapons have to be treated and stored,” said FBI Agent John Strong.Β  “And unfortunately, even if you carry out all those policies, it does not make it impossible to steal them. Β It makes them more difficult to steal.”

The items stolen include a Remington 870 Shotgun, one Colt M-4LE rifle and body armor which is olive drab in color with FBI patches. Β

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the FBI in Charlotte at 704-672-6100.
