STRASBOURG, France (AP) β€” Jari-Matti Latvala continued to dominate the Rally de France on Saturday, claiming four consecutive special stages to extend his overall lead.

The Finn started with a hat trick of wins before showing his driving skills on fast roads used during this year’s Tour de France to extend his lead over Volkswagen teammate Andreas Mikkelsen to 20.2 seconds.

Seeking his maiden asphalt victory, Latvala said “I feel I’ve found a good rhythm.”

Kris Meeke remained third in his Citroen DS3, 50.7 seconds off the pace.

Defending world rally champion Sebastien Ogier, who won his title at this race last year, lost nearly nine minutes on Latvala when his engine cut out on Friday.

The Frenchman needs to finish an unlikely six points ahead of Latvala to again clinch his title here.
