Aviation Director: Charlotte is Prepared for Ebola

CHARLOTTE, NC — There are concerns that airports are not doing enough to stop the possible spread of Ebola.  President Obama says Ebola is a top national security priority.  He says the U.S. is working on protocols for air passenger screenings at home and in west Africa.

Here at home, the Interim Aviation Director at Charlotte Douglas International, Brent Cagle, says the airport is prepared.  “For example, if there were an international flight coming over the ocean and the pilot became aware of a need to quarantine the aircraft, we would be a secondary airport,” said Cagle.  “We would not be a primary airport for that aircraft to arrive into.”

Carolinas Heath Care System and Novant Health say protocols are in place at our local hospitals in the event a patient comes in with the Ebola virus.
