CATAWBA COUNTY, NC — Two Catawba County teens killed in a car crash will be laid to rest Tuesday. Classmates at Bunker Hill High School gathered around a rock painted in memory of Alec Sigmon and Justin Turner Monday. Both were 15.
The car they were riding in crashed into a tree on Riverbend Road in Claremont Friday night. Troopers say the driver was going too fast and lost control. That driver and two others in the car were hurt.
The Highway Patrol reconstructed the crash scene Monday. Bunker Hill Principal Jeff Isenhour says it’s difficult for such a tight-knit community. “It’s one that people will heal in time, but it’s one where they’re scarred forever as a result of it.”
Justin Turner’s funeral is at 10:30 at First Presbyterian Church in Newton. Alec Sigmon’s funeral is at 2pm at St. Mark’s Lutheran in Claremont. The school will provide transportation for students who want to attend.
