WAXHAW, NC — A fight between two brothers left one dead and the other in jail facing a murder charge Tuesday.

Waxhaw police say Diante Norwood, 22, stabbed his brother, Dareicus Norwood, 33, just after 1:00 in the afternoon.

Their mother wasn’t ready to talk, but was clearly heartbroken and torn.

“It was a shock,” said Francina Glover.

Glover grew up with the mens’ mother. She was one of dozens of family and friends who stood watch for hours as police investigated.

“There’s really nothing to say, you know? There’s nothing you could say that would help the problem,” said Diane Ivey.

Police Chief Michael Eiss says his officers first got the call from a man who needed help because his brothers were fighting.

“After a few minutes, it got quiet, and Taquandarus came back out of his room to find Diante Norwood dragging Dareicus Norwood through the house, out the side door and into the back yard,” said Chief Eiss.

When officers arrived, Dareicus was lifeless in the yard, and they say Diante was washing the blood off the family porch.

“He was calm, didn’t show a whole lot of emotion,” said Chief Eiss.

Police are still waiting to question Diante before deciding what what the pair were fighting over, but say they lived in the home with their grandmother.

“Our hearts go out to the family, and we love the family,” said Glover. “We’re just going to all stick with them, and we understand their hurt and we feel their hurt.”
