Β CHARLOTTE, NC — One day after the first Ebola death on American soil, the focus on keeping the virus from spreading is intensifying. Β Officials say 334 U.S. troops are currently deployed in Liberia to help in the fight.
Meantime, employees at five major U.S. airports are being trained to clean and sanitize anything exposed to the virus. Β The CDC compared the Ebola outbreak to another global crisis.
“I will say that in the 30 years I have been working in public health, the only thing like this has been AIDS. Β And we have to work now so that this is not the world’s next AIDS,” said CDC Director Tom Frieden.
Two new Ebola-related cases are getting attention. Β In Spain, a nursing assistant is fighting for her life. Β She is the first person to contract Ebola outside of Africa.
