SALISBURY, NC — The first Ebola patient to die on U.S. soil will be honored at a memorial service in Salisbury Saturday.  Thomas Eric Duncan died Wednesday in Dallas, just ten days after being diagnosed.

His family in Kannapolis rushed to Texas to be with him when his condition worsened.  Medical records now show a Dallas hospital turned Duncan away, even though his temperature spiked at 103 degrees.

Medical staff at the Watauga Medical Center treated a patient with symptoms similar to the early stages of the virus late Thursday.  We now know those tests are negative.

Troops at Fort Bragg are wrapping up a second day of Ebola response training.  120 soldiers from the Carolinas will deploy later this month to Africa.  They began intense training Thursday.  The troops will help establish infrastructure, health facilities and emergency treatment units.

JFK International Airport will begin enhanced Ebola screenings for travelers arriving from the hardest-hit African nations Saturday.  The screenings will begin in Newark, Chicago, Washington Dulles, and Atlanta next week.
