Gas Prices Under $3 In Charlotte Area

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Crude oil is now $81 a barrel. Β And although that appears to be bad for the stock market, gasoline prices are down significantly. Β WCCB spotted gas for under $3 a gallon at several stores in the University area and at he Murphy Express gas station on HWY 73 in Denver.Β 

Gas prices have slowly been dropping across the nation. Β The average price nationwide dropped nine cents in the last week. Β AAA expects that to drop another 10 to 20 cents by the end of the month. Β 

“I need to fill up, cause it hasn’t been that cheap in a long time,” said east Charlotte resident Danny Leopfard. Β “It’s way past due, actually. Β It’s costing too much to get around town.”

The national average is $3.15 a gallon. Β The average in North Carolina is $3.13. Β A gallon of gas in South Carolina will cost you about $2.95.
