MOORESVILLE, NC– Police and Fire Rescue say they had to save a man who attempted to swim from Mooresville to Denver, NC.
Reports say a call came in October 11th claiming, that a person came out of the water asking which way he needed to swim to get to Denver, the caller says the man then got back in the water and swam off.
Police and Lake Norman Fire and Rescue then began searching the lake.
Once authorities finally located Michael Allen Vercio, 37, he had already been in the water for over four hours.
Deputy’s say they located Vercio, after hearing him yelling “hey”.
EMS stated that Vercio’s body temperature had dropped dangerously low, and if he had been in the water any longer he might not have survived.
