CHARLOTTE, NC — An outpouring of support for Charlotte’s third domestic violence murder victim of the year. Dozens of people lit candles and said prayers at a vigil in Cordelia Park. Police say 44-year-old Jestine Clyburn was shot and killed during a fight at her home in the Hidden Valley neighborhood last Wednesday night.
“Unfortunately, she’s not the first that I have lost to violence, and it is my prayer that as a city, we start uniting as one and take a stand against violence, because at the end of the day, it’s senseless,” said Clyburn’s cousin, Mario Black.
WCCB has learned the man charged with Clyburn’s murder died in jail. According to a police report, 55-year-old Paul Williams died from cardiac arrest Friday night. Officers were called to the jail around 8p.m. for a death investigation.
