Local Social Worker Accused Of Selling DSS Patients’ Personal Information For Profit

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A local social worker is accused of selling Medicaid recipients identity information for profit.

Authorities say Ieshia Hicks Watkins worked with the owner of Peaceful Alternative Resources, Ronnie Robinson.  His company is a non-profit provider of services for people suffering from mental health problems.

Court documents say Watkins took names of DSS clients and gave the information to Robinson so he could submit false claims to Medicaid.  The documents say Robinson made more than $3M during the scheme.

He is accused of paying Watkins thousands of dollars for the information.  Watkins is facing health care fraud conspiracy charges and charges of receiving illegal kickbacks.
