CHARLOTTE, NC — A local veteran has a new companion, thanks to the efforts of three Charlotte charities.

Charlotte Bridge Home, the Oasis Shriners and Dogs Doing Good teamed up to provide a trained service dog to Air Force veteran Ryan Largeman, who suffers from PTSD and several injuries after two tours in Afghanistan.  The goal is for Duke to ease Largeman’s transition into civilian life.

“I have nerve damage as well in my spine and my hands,” said Largeman.  “So he’s going to help me out in muptiple assets and facets of my life.”

Duke trained for six months before being reunited with Largeman on Tuesday.  The program would like to match 5 – 10 veterans a year with a trained dog.
