Β CHARLOTTE, NC — A local veteran has a new companion, thanks to the efforts of three Charlotte charities.

Charlotte Bridge Home, the Oasis Shriners and Dogs Doing Good teamed up to provide a trained service dog to Air Force veteran Ryan Largeman, who suffers from PTSD and several injuries after two tours in Afghanistan. Β The goal is for Duke to ease Largeman’s transition into civilian life.

“I have nerve damage as well in my spine and my hands,” said Largeman. Β “So he’s going to help me out in muptiple assets and facets of my life.”

Duke trained for six months before being reunited with Largeman on Tuesday. Β The program would like to match 5 – 10 veterans a year with a trained dog.
