CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Officials say weather has delayed the completion of the final stretch of I-485.
Crews planned to have the final outer loop section open by the end of December. However, the Department of Transportation says due to lower temperatures and seasonal limitations, they do not believe the project will be complete until spring 2015.
Crews say asphalt cannot set properly in temperatures under 50 degrees. Therefore, paving can’t be done between November and March.
NCDOT says they will continue to work with their contractors to do as much as possible to accelerate the completion of this project.
