CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Officials say weather has delayed the completion of the final stretch of I-485. Β
Crews planned to have the final outer loop section open by the end of December. Β However, the Department of Transportation says due to lower temperatures and seasonal limitations, they do not believe the project will be complete until spring 2015. Β
Crews say asphalt cannot set properly in temperatures under 50 degrees. Β Therefore, paving can’t be done between November and March. Β
NCDOT says they will continue to work with their contractors to do as much as possible to accelerate the completion of this project.
