NEW YORK CITY — Test results in late Thursday night show a doctor in New York City has the Ebola virus.
Health officials are trying to track down anyone he may have had contact with. Dr. Craig Spencer is in isolation at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan. He works for Doctors Without Boarders, and returned from West Africa 10 days ago. He told health officials he felt sluggish and developed a fever Thursday.
One of his neighbors says she’s not worried. “I don’t have any worries, because I feel like our government and the CDC and all that, you know, are fantastic. You know, authorities are trying to do the best that they can to take care of the situation,” said Morgan Pastrana.
Meantime, Mali is also reporting its first case of Ebola. It’s the sixth country in West Africa impacted by the disease. The outbreak has killed nearly 5,000 people this year.
