Β CHARLOTTE, NC — It’s a homecoming for the Charlotte Hornets. Β Talk about a flashback Friday, the Queen City is buzzing like it’s 1988 all over again.
The Hornets are putting on a Buzz Fest for fans this weekend, fans who are going crazy for the purple and teal. Β The Hornets are second in the NBA for new season ticket sales, they’ve added new corporate sponsors, and Hornet’s gear is flying off the shelves. Β The Buzz is back!
“My family grew up with the Hornets here in Charlotte,” said former Hornet Del Curry. Β “To get the name back, then have the team in place that we have this year and going forward, it’s really exciting times. Β I can’t wait until opening night.”
“It’s a piece of my childhood,” added Cotswold resident Carl Brunner. Β “It’s the Hornets. Β I just remember making that drive, getting stuck in traffic, leaving the parking lot, but staying to the last minute. Β I just wanted to relive that.”
The Hornets kick off the season Wednesday. Β You can watch the team practice at the arena on Saturday, and then get autographs after.
