KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) β The sixth game of the World Series is this evening in Kansas City. If the visiting Giants win tonight’s game they’ll have their third World Series title in five seasons. If the Royals take tonight’s game, the series would be tied at 3-3 with Game 7 tomorrow night in Kansas City.
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) β The Washington Redskins got a much needed win last night as they beat the Cowboys in Arlington, Texas, 20-17 in overtime. Kai Forbath won the game with a 40-yard field goal with 5:17 gone in the overtime session. The win was Washington’s third of the year against five defeats while the Cowboys fell to 6-2.
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (AP) β Funeral services are being planned for Oscar Taveras of the St. Louis Cardinals. The 22-year was killed along with his 18-year old girlfriend in a car accident in the Dominican Republic. Among those expected to attend Tuesday’s ceremony are Cardinals manager Mike Matheny and teammates Yadier Molina (YAH’-dee-eer moh-LEE’-nah) and Carlos Martinez.
DETROIT (AP) β Former major league pitcher Jeff Robinson died Sunday. The 52 year old went 9-6 as a rookie for the AL East-winning Detroit Tigers in 1987 and was 13-6 with a 2.98 ERA the following season. He went 47-40 and made 117 starts for Detroit, Baltimore, Texas and Pittsburgh.
UNDATED (AP) β There were two games in the NHL last night. The Rangers beat the visiting Minnesota Wild 5-4 while Edmonton’s Oilers stopped Montreal 3-0.
