TORONTO (AP) β The Toronto Maple Leafs tied a franchise record for fewest shots allowed in a game, and scored three times in the third period of a 4-0 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night.
Jonathan Bernier made just 10 saves in his eighth career NHL shutout. The Leafs allowed 10 shots just once before in franchise history, on Jan. 5, 2002, against Ottawa.
The shot total was the lowest in franchise history for the Sabres.
Phil Kessel, James van Riemsdyk and Jake Gardiner scored in an impressive third-period flurry for Toronto.
