GASTONIA, NC — Parents in Gastonia fought to keep the high school program at their children’s charter school open. Now, they want board members to pay.
The Piedmont Community Charter School Board reversed its decision to shut down 9th to 12th grades Tuesday night. Parents are celebrating, but say they won’t be relieved until the members who decided on the closure step down.
“Let someone in who can see outside of the box and who’s willing to put the work in and make sure the school stays stable like it always has been,” said Gastonia resident James Muhammad.
Charter leaders originally said becoming a K-8 program was the only option since high school enrollment was so low.
