
ROCK HILL, SC– Police arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a Winthrop University student early Friday morning.
Arriving to the scene, police were able to locate the possible suspect based on a description given by witnesses and he was placed under investigative detention while they spoke with several witnesses and the listed victim.
The victim told police that she was walking back to her residence when a man approached her from behind, the suspect then held a weapon to her body and told her she was going with him.
The victim told police he led her to a dark area of the Margaret Nance residence hall and made her remove her clothing, he then sexually assaulted the victim and apparently took pictures while it was going on.
Based on the evidence given, police arrested and charged the John Tyrone Roddey JR, 24, with Kidnapping and Criminal Sexual assault in the first degree.
