CHARLOTTE, NC — Panthers coach Ron Rivera thinks one of his best players should be allowed back on the field. Suspended defensive end Greg Hardy’s domestic abuse jury trial is reportedly postponed until after the season.
Hardy played in week one, but has been on an NFL exempt list, with pay, for the last six games. That is also the number of games in Commissioner Roger Goodell’s new punishment for a domestic violence conviction.
“Well, just because he’s been out, you know, again, if things had all transpired and gone a certain way, then his availability might be now. So we’ll see. But again, as I said, I don’t set the policy,” said Rivera.
A judge found Hardy guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend and threatening to kill her in July. He appealed, asking for a jury trial, which was set for November 17.
