Al Jefferson had 21 points and Gary Neal added 17 points off the bench for the Hornets, who lost their second straight.
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) β Elias Lindholm’s second-period goal proved to be the difference in the Carolina Hurricanes’ 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings yesterday. The Hurricanes won for the second straight day, and Los Angeles remained winless on the road this season.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) β Reserve offensive lineman Na’Tay Rodgers is no longer with South Carolina. Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier said yesterday the redshirt freshman is seeking a transfer. Spurrier said Rodgers had some problems with team policies the coach wouldn’t disclose and that all thought it was in the player’s best interest to participate elsewhere.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) β Tom Pernice Jr. won the Champions Tour’s season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship yesterday, beating Jay Haas with a birdie on the fourth hole of a playoff. Pernice got up-and-down from the left bunker on the par-5 18th, holing a 6-foot putt after Haas made a 12-footer for par.
