Charlotte Parent: Raise Kids Who Care About Helping Others

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Parent Magazine has a new issue out, and they are highlighting how to raise kids who enjoy volunteering for charitable causes.

Editor Eve White says, at an early age, you can start by planting a community garden, picking up litter, or donating goods.

As they progress into the elementary school age, kids can volunteer by visiting nursing homes.

By the time they are teenagers, they understand the value of volunteering and can choose what activities they want to do. Some ideas include being a homework helper or mentoring. Teens can include the volunteer work they did in high school on their college applications, so, in turn, it ends up helping them.
