CHARLOTTE, NC — We’re learning more about a reported investigation that may have ended Superintendent Heath Morrison’s tenure at Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools.

Recently retired Associate Superintendent in Charge of Construction Guy Chamberlain confirmed to WCCB Tuesday night that he was interviewed in the last two weeks by a CMS attorney, and was asked about cost overruns at new schools and Morrison bullying staff.

Morrison announced Monday that he will resign on Thursday, saying he needs to dedicates more time to his family.  CMS held a news conference Tuesday afternoon, but would not confirm an investigation.

“I know that you have many questions at this time,” said Board of Education Chair Mary McCray.  “But we’re unable to answer those, and will be available as soon as we have information of value to share.”

Morrison was not in the CMS offices Tuesday.  A source tells WCCB Charlotte that language in a separation agreement between Morrison and the district prohibits CMS from commenting on his resignation until Thursday.
