CINCINNATI (AP) β€” The Cleveland Browns had three short rushing touchdowns and allowed just 165 total yards in a 24-3 win over the Bengals in Cincinnati. The Browns ended a 17-game road losing streak in division games and improved to 6-3, tying Pittsburgh for the AFC North lead. Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton was just 10 of 33 for 86 yards and three touchdowns before he was replaced by Jason Campbell.

NEW YORK (AP) β€” A hearing for Ray Rice appealing his NFL suspension concluded yesterday after two days and testimony from the former running back and the head of the league. Rice and his wife Janay Rice left the hearing separately after each testified at the New York office of a neutral arbiter. The arbitration hearing will determine whether the NFL overstepped its authority in modifying a two-game suspension of Rice, making it indefinite after video of the running back hitting his wife was released by TMZ.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) β€” The NFL is formally reviewing Adrian Peterson’s case, for potential punishment under the league’s personal conduct policy. A league spokesman says Peterson has been told by the NFL that his status on paid leave from the Vikings will not change until completion of the process. The Vikings running back pleaded no contest in Texas on Tuesday to misdemeanor reckless assault, down from a felony charge of child abuse for disciplining his 4-year-old son with a wooden switch.

NEW YORK (AP) β€” Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout, Pittsburgh outfielder Andrew McCutchen and Washington shortstop Ian Desmond have won their third straight Silver Slugger Awards. Chicago White Sox rookie first baseman Jose Abreu (ah-BRAY’-oo) and Houston second baseman Jose Altuve (al-TOO’-vay) were among eight first-time winners announced today by Louisville Slugger. Texas third baseman Adrian Beltre (BEHL’-tray) won for the fourth time.

NEW YORK (AP) β€” Toronto Maple Leafs forward Carter Ashton has been suspended for 20 games without pay by the NHL following a failed a drug test. Ashton said in a statement released through the players’ union that he inadvertently ingested clenbuterol, a prohibited substance, through an inhaler during an asthma attack at practice in late August. He said he used another athlete’s inhaler twice and “incorrectly assumed that there were no problems” with the device.
