CHESTER, S.C. —  It’s been a violent week in Chester, South Carolina.  First the murder of a city councilman, now a murder-suicide outside the city water department.

A man and his estranged wife are dead after an argument at the Chester Sewer District. Police say, around 3:15 p.m. on Thursday they received a shots fired call on Wylie Street. When officers arrived, they found the man and woman in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound.

Authorities say the woman was at work when the man asked her to come outside. There was some sort of argument in the parking lot before the man shot the woman then turned the gun on himself.

“I was in my bedroom, it was a little after three o’clock.  I heard five stamp-type shots: ‘pop, pop, pop’ a little hesitant, then a final pop and within seconds I heard sirens,” said Chester resident Thomas Roth.

The Chester County Coroner confirmed both died at the scene.

Police are not releasing the name of the woman or the man.  We do know they are from Lancaster.

So far, no arrests in the murder of Chester City Councilman Odell Williams.  He was shot in his car in a possibly gang-related drive by shooing Tuesday night.  It happened near the intersection of Parkway Drive and Roundtree Circle.
