CMPD: Mom Beat and Starved 4 Children with Help of Relative

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police detectives have charged 28-year-old Ronika Bell and 33-year-old Deron Cuthbertson, Jr. with multiple counts of felony child abuse. Β In late September, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida contacted CMPD about four abused children that had been hospitalized. Bell is charged with four counts of Felony Child Abuse for the “prolonged abuse and starvation of her four children.” Β Cuthbertson also faces four counts of Felony Child Abuse based on “prolonged abuse and starvation of the four children living in his home that were left in his care on several occasions.”
Β
Cuthbertson and Bell were arrested in the 6000 block of Craftsbury Drive on Friday, November 7th by North Tryon Division officers.Β They remain behind bars in the Mecklenburg County jail.
