FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) — With the Atlanta Falcons struggling through another disappointing season, Matt Ryan has become more vocal around his teammates.
Never mind his numbers, which are as solid as ever.
Matty Ice knows he’s the face of the franchise.
It falls on him to lead a turnaround, so he’s been more assertive.
For Ryan, it’s all about “winning performances.” In that respect, he’s come up far short of expectations over the past two seasons.
After going 4-12 a year ago, the Falcons are 3-6 heading into Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers (3-6-1). The only saving grace is playing in the anemic NFC South, where every team is below .500. Atlanta is only a game behind first-place New Orleans and, amazingly, still very much a part of the playoff race.
